Senior Capstone: Modeled Modules

Ongoing project focused on the development of Unit Generators (UGens) for the SuperCollider programming language, simulating synthesizer modules. The project involves working with the SuperCollider Server API in C++ and direct implementation within the SuperCollider language.

This undertaking not only involves coding work but also includes the creation of a research paper and presentation.

SuperCollider Configuration GUI

Designed and developed a Graphical User Interface (GUI) aimed at streamlining the configuration process for both the SuperCollider server and SuperDirt in conjunction with Tidal Cycles. Originally conceived to simplify Tidal Cycles configuration and sample loading for beginners, the project evolved into a way to increase ease of use for both SuperCollider and Tidal Cycles.

This cross-platform ‘quark’ is implemented using the SuperCollider language, offering many features to enhance the user experience. Notable functionalities include intuitive sound device selection, the ability to save preferred settings for quick access, efficient loading of new samples in SuperDirt, and general configuration options. The project contributes to the accessibility and user-friendliness of SuperCollider and Tidal Cycles, catering to both beginners and advanced users alike.

Home Server

Established a home server infrastructure utilizing a Raspberry Pi 4 with Ubuntu Server. Deployed and configured a number of applications, including a JellyFin media server and a Nextcloud instance, employing Docker and Docker Compose for streamlined app installation and management. Implemented port forwarding and assigned a domain name to allow for external access. Continually monitors system security and executes routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal server performance.

Website Migration

Engaged in a project as part of the Short Term High Impact Project (SHIP) program, facilitated by the Christopher Newport University Center for Career Planning. Teamed up with Quality of Life Inc to revamp their non-profit website. Successfully migrated the existing WordPress site to Squarespace, introducing a contemporary aesthetic and user experience. Additionally, offered instructions to enable a seamless transition post-project completion, ensuring the site would continue to meet the client’s vision.


Research Apprenticeship
